As well as conference and banqueting suites and a gym, the centre is home to a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool, attracting around 150,000 visitors a year.
The pioneering pool was the first in the country to switch over to chlorine-free PoolSan in October 2005. And after good results in its diving pool, used PoolSan products in the main pool as well.
For the last three and a half years, this successful long-term trial has helped launch the PoolSan name across the UK and Europe and beyond.
The Verdict
District Councillor David Sharland, who holds Mole Valley’s portfolio for health, safety and wellbeing, was delighted with the success of the trials.
“We chose Poolsan because we were looking for an alternative to chlorine and it offered the potential to have a completely chlorine-free environment. The trials have been very successful and have ensured the water is safe and pleasant to swim in.”
Added regular swimmer Heather: “I drive for 40 mins three times a week from East Grinstead to swim in Leatherhead’s chlorine free pool because it is so much better than any other pool I have used. The dive pool is quite simply the best swimming experience anyone could ask for. Please, please don’t put chlorine back in it.”
